What is Gunite?
Gunite is a process of applying concrete to a structure. It is commonly used to build pools as well as bridges, tunnels and water tanks as well as other industrial/commercial applications.

Gunite comes in two basic forms...a dry gun and a wet gun..

Dry Gun
The dry gun method uses a gunite rig in which sand and regular cement are mixed and compressed. This mixture is then blown through a hose where water is added at the tip of the hose and then blown into the walls and floor. This process is widely used around the world

Wet Gun Is Our Choice

Gunite Pools, Inc. utilizes a wet gun process. Our concrete batch design uses a 7-sack mix with fiber-mesh for added strength. Fiber mesh is a technology in which strands of fiberglass are mixed with the concrete that helps reinforce the concrete shell. We shoot a 12" to 14" continuous bond beam which regresses to 6" walls and floor. Once the concrete is placed, skilled workers "trim" and "shape" the new concrete shell.

The wet gun method, also known as shotcrete, uses premixed concrete. This mixture is pumped to a nozzle and placed "shot" in the walls and floor of the structure. Computers at the concrete plant are used to control the concrete mixture by using a pre-defined design that can be adjusted at the site. The illustration below shows a basic wet-gun shotcrete application.
